original Volvo 444, 1956 This 1956 Volvo 444 is a ground up restoration. The car was brought to us in its original condition and has damage to the nose and rust though most areas of the car. With this group of 6 photos the top left one shows the original car as it is being disassembled. The top right photo shows the rusted out spare tire well. The bottom left photo is a view of the original heater above the drivers foot well. The 2 middle photos show the floor of the car interior with the seats removed. volvo front stripped In this group of 6 photos the top left shows the front of the car stripped of all its parts. The top right and bottom left photos show the car de-rusted and sprayed with epoxy sealer to prevent rusting prior to body repairs. The second photo from the bottom left shows the rotted floor pans removed and starting repairs. The next photo dhows duplication of the rotted structural members. The new piece is to the left. floor repairs This group of 6 photos shows the floor repairs continued on the top left and the rotted area of the left rear wheel well on the top right. The bottom left photo shows the rotted areas on the right wheel well and the spare tire well.Tthe bottom middle photo left shows the inside trunk with repairs to the right wheel well where the fender bolts. In this group of 6 photos the top left shows further repairs to the fender. The top right shows the metal finishing of the fender.The 3 photos on the bottom from the left show repairing of the rotted areas and installation of the new spare tire well. The last photo bottom right shows the same area primed and undercoated.
The top left photo in this group shows the surfacer being block sanded and the epoxy sealer over the surfacer on the body of the photo top right. The bottom left photo shows the primer/surfacer ready for final sanding. The bottom middle 2 photos show the underside of the body seam sealed, ready for the application of the undersoating and the color applied to the firewall and subframe. The last photo bottom right shows the body work to the damaged nose and fitting of the grill surround.

The photo top left of this group shows sanding of the surfacer on the front nose of the car. The photo top right shows the beginning assembly of the front suspension. The bottom 4 photos from left to right show the body prepped, sealed and ready for paint, color applied to the body, the beginning of the assembly process and the nose and rear fenders painted.

The photo on the left shows the windshield being installed. The photo on the right shows the hood painted. The 4 photos on the bottom from left to right show the front fenders painted and ready to be installed, the rear of the car being assembled, the dash being assembled and the original trunk floormat was saved.
